Pediatric clinician Kathleen Dean (Jennifer Lopez) works for a medical research facility that studies the brain, and her mission is to heal the sores in the young minds of her young patients by getting caught up in their dreams through highly technical means.The police receive reports of a number of young girls missing in the area. The FBI agent in charge of the case (Vince Vaughn) concludes that the move is the work of a serial psychopathic killer. After investigation, the police locate the suspect - Carl Stagg (Vincent D'Onofrio) - but struggles to rescue the girl he is holding captive because he is tight-lipped.
