Russell (Bruce Willis) is a middle-aged man with a mediocre career and a blank love life, who has spent most of his life working for what can only be described as "nothing". By chance, Russell meets a boy who looks familiar to him, and to Russell's surprise, it is none other than himself (Spencer Breslin) when he was eight years old.It takes a lot of effort to convince young Russell that he is who he is 32 years later, but much to his dismay, instead of being the handsome pilot he had hoped to be, he has grown up to be a middle-aged man in obscurity and alone. In order to change his future, young Russell decides to help his future self, and in the process of spending time with young Russell, Russell also comes out of his confusion and sees hope again.
