Detective ray veerklu (Colin Farrel), who works in finch, California, has been depressed for years. He works for local gang leader frank shemin (Vince Vaugh), who years ago got rid of the man who raped ray's wife. He did odd jobs for xie, such as beating up a journalist who had recently written about a series of organised crimes. His latest job is to find Ben kaspari, the city's chief executive, who has been missing for days. Ventura county sheriff Anne badras (Rachel McAdams) is successful at her job, but alienates her sister, ashena, a porn anchor, and her father, a new religious leader. When California highway patrol officer Paul wojlough (Taylor Kitsch) learns that he has been suspended from his job, a young woman falsely claims he asked to be allowed to have sex with her.After a man was found dead on a highway bench late one night, three police officers from different cities and government agencies came together to investigate the case. In the course of their investigation, they came to find that the case was far more complicated than they had imagined.
