The film is a masterpiece of philosophical themes that kubrick has spent four years producing. A large black stone was erected in front of prehistoric humans, who had just begun to recognize tools and had reached an evolutionary milestone. The same black stones also appear in multiple places in the universe, standing on the moon, floating in space with some kind of cryptic implication.It's 2001, and a plan to land Jupiter in search of the source of the black rock. The ship has three hibernating astronauts, captain David (Keir Dullea), frank pilot (Lockwood), and a highly intelligent computer called HAL9000. HAL was dislocated during the space flight, killing frank and three hibernating crew, leaving bowman to fight the computer.When David returns from death in a fit of rage, he turns off the main brain system and HAL is completely disabled. Now, David is alone in the universe, heading toward Jupiter. Through the magnificent stargate, David seems to go to a strange time and space, where there are endless reincarnation of human beings and the ultimate knowledge of the universe......
