In 1968, both Chicago and the United States as a whole were in a period of political turmoil. Joy is a housewife living an ordinary life in the suburbs with her husband and daughter. Joy's life is in danger when she becomes pregnant, and she must find a way to deal with a medical organization that is unwilling to help.
