Stephen (Adrien Brody) is a frustrated man in his late 20s who still lives with his parents and sister. His dream was to become a ventriloquist. After quitting his job, he bought back a puppet and regarded it as a bosom friend. He talked to the puppet every day. His family finds his behavior laughable, but his best friend Fanny (Milla J Ovovich), who also has what others see as an unrealistic musical dream, supports him.Steven meets Lorena (Vera Farmiga) at an employment agency and it's love at first sight.
