In the 1940s, former boxing champion Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) is the most powerful gangster in Los Angeles, running a prostitution and gambling operation while bribing the LAPD and judges to run the city. Cynical and never afraid of Micky, LAPD officer John O'Mara (Josh Brolin) has just destroyed one of his prostitution dens. This time, L.A. Sheriff Bill Parker decides to wage a showdown against Micky, asking John to organize a secret team with the goal of eradicating Micky.John, at his wife's suggestion, finds Jerry (Ryan Gosling Ryan Gosling), a friend of his from the police department and Micky's lover, Grace (Emma Stone Emma Stone); sharpshooter Max Kennard; equally cynical black cop Coleman Harris; ex-intelligence agent Conwell Keeler; and Max's protégé, Mexican Navidad Ramirez, make up the Gangster Squad, who have installed a bugging device in Micky's home and repeatedly sabotaged it. They installed a bugging device at Micky's home, repeatedly sabotaged Micky's operations, and dismantled several of his gambling dens. They thought they were winning, but the real battle had just begun...
