The hero, Joe Cypher (Tim Allen), is a middle-aged man of modest means who, like all failed little men, dreams of becoming a "big man". He's been working for a pharmaceutical company in Minnesota, lamenting the fact that he's not getting the recognition he deserves. Joe's bosses had promised him a promotion, but eventually reneged. And his personal life is a mess, as he and his wife Kelly (Kelly Lynch) end up in divorce. It's not a good or bad job and a muddled life that is as quiet as a pool of stagnant water. Until his anger is finally ignited when his colleague Mark (Patrick Warburton) takes over his beloved private parking space and humiliates Joe in front of his precocious daughter. Determined to turn over a new leaf, Joe is determined to fight Mark to the death.
