Earl (Jason Lee) is lying in a white hospital bed counting the first half of his life, only to realize that in this long time, almost nothing good has happened. At this point, a variety show on TV gives him the inspiration that he is so unlucky, perhaps because he has done too many bad things. So this big man resolves to be a good person from this moment on.Randy (Ethan Suplee), Katherine (Nadine Velazquez), and Darnell (Eddie Steeples), Earl's friends, are all excited to help him with his “good guy plan”. Earl's group of friends are all excited to learn about his “good guy plan” and are willing to help, except for his ex-wife, Joy (Jaime Pressly), who is so dismissive of her reformed ex-husband.
