Veteran Terry (Samuel L. Jackson) faces an impending trial in which he is accused of launching an attack on a crowd of demonstrators during an operation to protect the ambassador, resulting in the deaths of nearly 80 unarmed and innocent civilians. In the face of this accusation, Terry maintained his innocence, knowing that the demonstrators were not unarmed and that it was they who had launched the attack on the embassy in the first place.It soon became clear to Telly that all signs pointed to Telly being at a disadvantage. The government and the military seemed to have made a scandal of the incident even before the outcome of the trial was revealed, not only by falsifying testimony but also by erasing all evidence in Telly's favour. Not prepared to be caught in the middle of this conspiracy, Terry contacts his old war buddy, lawyer Hayes (Tommy Lee Jones), in the hope that with his help he will be able to clear his name.
