Shortly after Reagan is elected President of the United States during the Cold War, a pair of Soviet KGB spies are ordered by their superiors to lurk in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., waiting for an opportunity to gather military and political intelligence. Disguised as an American family - husband Philip (Matthew Rhys Matthew Rhys), wife Elizabeth (Keri Russell Keri Russell real), with a pair of children unaware of their affairs 13-year-old daughter Paige (Holly Taylor FBI agent Stan (Noah Emmerich) moves in next door to them disguised as a civilian to investigate. And all the while, their relationship grows closer and more genuine as time progresses, but the escalation of the Cold War and the attention and surveillance that the spy organization maintains on them are testing the emotions between them. More crucially Phillip is becoming more and more acclimatized to the values and mindset of American life.
