Beth (Michelle Pfeiffer) is a highly successful photographer who, along with her husband Pat (Treat Williams) raise their three adorable children, Vincent (Jonathan Jackson), Ben (Ryan Merriman), and Callie (Alexa PenaVega). One day, during a lineup, the youngest, Ben, wanders off and disappears, and despite the fact that Bess and Pat have enlisted some of the smartest and most capable detectives in the city, they are unable to locate Ben. The shock brought Beth's family to the brink of collapse.Nine years passed, and Bess and Pat were able to move on from their past and open a restaurant in Chicago. One day, a boy named Sam knocked on the Besses' door and asked to mow their backyard lawn. What Bess didn't realize was that this Sam was the missing Ben.
