Ray Ferrell (Tom Cruise) is divorced from his wife and has a son and daughter living with their mother - a family that was torn apart because of his playfulness and neglect of his responsibilities. A disaster involving an alien invasion brings them back together.On this day, his wife is busy and has to leave their children in Ray's care. The sky was gray with lightning and thunder, and everything seemed strange. Sure enough, a huge three-legged flying machine dug out of the road, and the evil Martians visited this peaceful town. People are running for their lives, and Ray is running for his life with his daughter, embarking on a life-and-death adventure. As the authorities try to deal with the aliens, but repeatedly fail, the whole world is thrown into a state of panic.With the instinct of fatherly love, the usual hangdog father becomes heroic and tenacious, and the protection of his son and daughter becomes his driving force and belief to support him.
