Ollie (Ben Affleck) is a famous music critic who is thriving in the professional world. He has a beautiful wife and a lovely daughter, Gertie (Raquel Castro), who makes his life almost perfect. However, his wife's sudden death put an end to all these good things. Soon after, a depressed Ollie lost his lucrative job. Ollie had no choice but to take Gertie home to New Jersey.The pleasant scenery and idleness of the country did not heal Ollie's broken heart, but Gertie felt at home, not only because of the good weather, but also because her formerly busy father now had more time for himself.
