Born in Germany, Dieter Dangler (Christian Bale) has dreamed of flying airplanes since he was a child. When he grew up, his family emigrated to the United States and he joined the army and became a real pilot. He then served in Vietnam with the Navy. En route to the mission, the Dieter plane was shot down by Vietnamese ground fire. He narrowly escaped death, but was eventually captured by the enemy and tortured. Mr. Teeter was taken to a prison camp in Laos, where he was accompanied by several fellow American troops. They are treated inhumanly by the enemy guards, and Dieter is determined to escape before he can sit down, but his companions Gene (Jeremy Davis) and Dunn (Steve Tzen) don't think so, and they don't have much confidence. Persuaded, Dieter orchestrated his escape during the rainy season. They have to face endless jungle, hunger, wild animals, and Vietnamese people who don't know where...
