In April 1942, during World War II, German battleships in the Atlantic Ocean adopt "wolf pack" tactics, causing heavy losses to the Allies. U.S. Navy Captain Taylor (Matthew McConaughey) was promised a promotion to captain because of his outstanding performance against the enemy, but for some reason he was unable to do so.
