The story takes place in the small town of Huntington, West Virginia, where Marshall University football team is the pride of the town and one of the top universities in the country. The Marshall University football team has long been part of local history, with generations of players who have persevered through time and sweat.In 1970, the year most people don't want to remember but can't forget, the Marshall University football team flew back to Huntington. On the way, a terrible plane crash took place. All 75 passengers, including team members, coaches and logistics staff, were killed. People were stunned by the news, and an atmosphere of sadness and depression quickly swept through the town. When a football coach named Jack (Matthew McConaughey) steps forward, he can not bear to see the residents depressed, he decides to use his own strength to continue the glory of Marshall University football team.
